Guidelines on Using the Mapúa Wireless Hotspots

  1. User must provide their own workstation either laptop or desktop computer.
  2. Proceed to Development Office for Information Technology (DOIT) for one-time registration and present any Identification Card, Certificate of Matriculation or other documents.
  3. Fill up and submit the Account Activation Form to acquire your Personal Account.
  4. User/DOIT Personnel must setup the workstation to join the Wireless Network.
    Note: For users who do not have their own WLAN Card, see procedure and guidelines on renting WLAN Card
  5. User/DOIT Personnel must configure the Internet Setting of the workstation.
    • At the Control panel, open the Internet Option.
    • Choose Connections then click LAN Settings.
    • Check the box to use the proxy server for your LAN.
    • Input the server name at the address box and leave the Port number box blank.
      Server name: wpad.wireless.intra.local
    • Do not check the box for the bypass proxy server for local addresses.
  6. Open a web browser; log-on the registered personal account provided by the Development Office for Information Technology to access the Internet.
